Terms of use.

These terms cover your use of openyear.tax (the "site"), the Planning Letter membership and applying to use the OpenYear app. The site is operated by RegAtlas, LLC ("we", "us"). By using the site, you agree to them.

What the site is

The site describes OpenYear, publishes free resources, offers an email membership, and lets you request app access. The OpenYear app itself isn't offered through the site. When it's available to you, using it will be covered by separate terms that you'll be asked to accept then.

Not tax, legal or financial advice

Everything on the site is general information. It isn't tax, legal, accounting or financial advice, and it doesn't create a professional relationship between you and us. The sample report describes a fictional business; its figures are illustrations built from stated assumptions, not estimates for you. Tax outcomes depend on your own facts and the law as it applies to you — talk to a qualified tax professional before acting on anything here.

Planning Letter membership

The OpenYear Planning Letter costs $60 USD per year, charged at signup and automatically each year until you cancel. Any applicable taxes are shown at checkout. The membership includes one educational tax-planning email each month, with the first issue delivered within 30 days of joining to the address supplied at checkout. Each issue covers a strategy, questions to check, a worked example and an action checklist. Relevant deadline reminders are included in the newsletter; they are not a personalized deadline-monitoring service.

This is a new publication. There is no member archive at launch. Membership does not include access to the OpenYear app, an app discount, personalized tax advice, reviews of your books or unlimited questions. Free public guides and calculators remain available without a membership.

Stripe processes payments and manages subscriptions. You can cancel renewal through the billing link on themembership page before your next billing date. Cancellation stops the next charge; newsletter delivery continues through the period you have already paid for. For billing help or a refund request, write to hello@openyear.tax.

You can stop newsletter emails by replying to an issue or emailing us. Stopping delivery does not by itself cancel renewal; you can request both together. We will tell you before a change to your renewal price takes effect. Nothing in these terms limits refund or cancellation rights that apply under law.

Applying for app access

Applying is free and doesn't guarantee a place. We decide which businesses we take on, and when, and we may change or end the application process at any time. What we keep when you apply, and why, is described in our privacy policy.

Using the site

Please don't:

• submit someone else's information, or information that isn't true;
• try to disrupt, overload, probe or break into the site or the systems behind it;
• scrape or copy the site in bulk, or use it to build a competing product;
• use the site for anything unlawful.

Our content

The site's text, design, sample report and the OpenYear name and logo belong to RegAtlas, LLC. You're welcome to read, share links to and quote the site; please don't reproduce it wholesale or present it as your own.

Links to other sites

The site links to other websites. We don't control them and aren't responsible for their content or practices.

No warranties

The site is provided as it is and as available. We work to keep it accurate and working, but we don't promise that it's complete, error-free or always available.

Limits on liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, RegAtlas, LLC isn't liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses arising from your use of the site, and our total liability for any claim relating to the site is limited to one hundred US dollars. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.

Changes

We may update these terms. When we do, we'll change the effective date above. Continuing to use the site after an update means you accept the new terms.
